Our brief was to design and develop a new website that felt more sophisticated and structured, moving away from the appearance of a primary-school style site while creating a platform that could be easily maintained by multiple staff members.
The new website needed to communicate the full range of opportunities available to students while also acting as a reliable information hub for parents, staff and the wider school community. With many teachers contributing updates and content throughout the year, consistency and ease of use were also key considerations.
The aim was to create a refined design system that would maintain a professional appearance across the entire site while still allowing different departments to share news, events and updates.
The visual design focuses on a more mature and polished aesthetic. A refined colour palette and carefully chosen typography help present the school in a way that feels appropriate for a secondary-level institution while remaining clear and accessible for students and parents alike.
To support the school’s wide range of activities, the site structure includes dedicated sections for departments, events and galleries. This allows visitors to easily explore different areas of the school while giving staff a straightforward framework for publishing new content.
Because multiple teachers contribute to the website, we also implemented custom post types within the content management system. These templates help guide how content is added and displayed, limiting unnecessary styling choices and ensuring that posts follow a consistent structure. This approach helps maintain a cohesive look and feel across the entire website while making it easier for staff to manage updates.
Photography also plays an important role in the new design. Updated imagery and gallery sections highlight the full breadth of school life, from academic subjects to arts, sports and extracurricular activities, helping to give prospective students and parents a genuine sense of the college environment.
Beyond the website, we have also worked with Dominican College on a range of supporting visual materials across the campus. These include signage, pull-up banners and environmental graphics such as step designs and display boards, helping extend the refreshed visual identity throughout the school itself.
