Evolving a heritage brand for its next chapter

The brief was to create a refreshed and recognisable logo that respected the company’s heritage while confidently positioning it for its next era. Rather than reinventing the brand, the focus was on strengthening what already existed – refining, simplifying and ensuring consistency across modern platforms.

With strong recognition already in place, evolution – not overhaul – was key. The established black and yellow colour palette formed a solid foundation, carrying familiarity and visual strength. We leaned into these existing brand colours, refining their use to create a cleaner, more adaptable identity.

The new logo was designed to feel bold, simple and easily recognisable at a glance. Particular attention was given to scalability and versatility, ensuring the identity would perform equally well across yard signage, vehicle graphics, printed materials and social media icons. The mark needed to hold its presence in large-format applications while remaining clear and legible in smaller digital spaces.

Beyond the logo itself, we developed a structured brand guidelines document to support long-term consistency. This included clear direction on colour usage, typography hierarchy, layout structure and social media presentation. By formalising these elements, Diamond Sawmills now has a practical framework that ensures their brand remains cohesive across all touchpoints.

The result is an identity that feels both familiar and refreshed – a natural progression of a trusted local name, designed to support the business confidently into its next chapter.
