How to get your local shop online

5th Dec

More than ever, getting your products and services accessible online is a fantastic way to create more sales.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, there has been a surge in demand for shops and services to go digital at a rate like no other. As restrictions come and go, and the retail shopping experience has seen some vast changes for a long-time to come, ensuring your customers can still reach you and your products has become even more important in 2020.

Customers now will expect to discover and buy online even more than before

In 2020, Google had predicted the numbers of online purchases will continue to grow – as over 70% of U.K. shoppers who plan to shop this season said they will shop online more for the holidays than they did in previous seasons, and a similar number said they would browse for gift ideas online and not in store.(1)

Shoppers want to shop local, but they’ll research online first

Even as the increase for customers desire to shop and support local businesses, the availability and range of products online has become a priority. In fact, 65% of shoppers said they plan to confirm online that an item is in stock before going to buy it.(2) Plus, searches for “available near me” have grown globally by more than 100% since last year,(3) underscoring the importance of accurate inventory information.
